Taliparamba, February 14, 2025 – The Journalism Department of Sir Syed College launched its campus news paper, 'The Sirsyedian,' with the logo unveiled by CDMEA General Secretary Mahmood Allamkulam. Journalism head V.H. Nishad, along with student representatives Fajas, Ayush, Safreena, Saniya, and Asna, attended the event.

Participants can submit love letters digitally or through a letterbox near the Journalism Department and also record their experiences at the Multimedia Studio. The event aims to encourage creative expression through words and storytelling.

Sir Syed College’s Journalism Department celebrated World Radio Day on February 13th, highlighting radio’s significance. In December 2023, students from the 2021-24 batch of the Department of Journalism at Sir Syed College, Thaliparamba, embarked on a transformative media journey across Pune, Mumbai, and Goa. The itinerary included immersive visits to the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune, where students gained firsthand experience in film production and media education. At World Peace University in Pune, discussions focused on peace journalism, highlighting the role of media in fostering peaceful communication. In Goa, students explored the Goa Central Library, delving into its cultural and literary treasures, deepening their understanding of regional heritage. These visits provided invaluable insights into film, journalism, peace communication, and cultural preservation, enriching students’ experiential learning and broadening their perspectives on media and cultural diversity.

From June 25 to June 30, 2020, Vyazhavattom, a cultural-literary fraternity under the Department of Journalism, organized 'Kandinaa.. Kettinaa.. Vayichinaa..', a week-long online reading celebration. The program was inaugurated by noted Malayalam writer Sr. Santhosh Aechikkanam. Participants including Abdul Salam (poet), V Dileep (writer), Syam Sudhakar (poet), Jisa Jose (critic), TB Lal (short story writer), and MP Pavitra (poet) presented various literary forms, enriching the cultural landscape of the event.

International Webinar: 'Mainstream Media Reporting During Covid-19: an International Experience

On May 22, 2020, as part of the international webinar series organized by Sir Syed College, the Department of Journalism collaborated with IQAC to host Doctrina—04. The seminar focused on 'Mainstream Media Reporting During Covid-19: An International Experience' and featured Ms. Sajila Saseendran, Senior Reporter at Gulf News, Dubai, as the resource person. The event attracted 516 registrations from 18 states and four countries, with 200 participants actively engaging in the seminar.
