Department of Economics is one of the premier departments of the college established in 1967 as a part of commerce and history department. It became an independent one only after the functioning of Pre-Degree course in 1982 and later it was upgraded the Under Graduate programme, B.A Economics, in the year 1993. Now the department has an excellent track records including top percentage of results at the university level. It’s our proud to point out that in the U.G Economics Examinations of March 2020, the Department of Economics stands at 3rd position in the University. Mathematics for Economic Analysis and History of Economic Thought are the complementary elective course provided by the department for UG course.

To develop a capacity to “ think like an economist” and also to motivate them for realizing their potential through creative spaces To equip the students to involve in critical inquiry and exchange of ideas without any fear, favour or hesitation. In addition to attaining high standard of academic performance, the department of economics aspires to stimulate the academic environment by providing value based quality education for the betterment of communities.
