Department of Physics, Sir Syed College, Taliparamba started functioning in June 1967 with four faculty members for teaching the Pre-Degree Course. The Degree course in Physics started in 1982 and the Post Graduate course in 1996. At present the various courses offered by the department are

  • MSc Physics
  • BSc Physics core
  • BSc Physics complementary (for BSc Mathematics core and BSc Chemistry core students)
  • Add On Course in Computer Aided Drug Design

Founder members of the Department were Prof. K. Govindan, Prof M.P. Lakshmanan, Prof. K. N Madhavan, Prof. AV Muhammed Kunhi Six new members namely Mr. P. P Mustafa, Mr. K M Muraleedharan and Mr. K Lakshmanan, Mr. M. P. Narayanan, Mr. Dheepak. B and Mr. Ramachandran N were appointed as faculty members in 1979-80 when shift system was introduced to the Pre-Degree Course. The last two members resigned to join some other colleges of their choice.
