Understanding Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the World Around Us”

The Department of Economics, in association with the Department of Computer Science, Sir Syed College, organized an insightful workshop titled “Understanding Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the World Around Us” on Thursday, 17th July 2025, at 9:30 AM in the Computer Lab, Sir Syed College. The session was specifically conducted for the FYUGP 3rd Semester students of the Department of Economics. The seminar aimed to introduce the foundational concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and highlight its growing influence in reshaping various sectors globally. The resource person for the session was Ms. Rahila NV, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Sir Syed College. The program began with a Presidential Address by Mr. Hamsa C.K, Head of the Department of Economics and supported by faculty members Dr. Sajitha P K and Mr. Suhail Muhammed Khalid. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Fathimathul Shaza PP (Student, 3rd Semester B.A. Economics).

On October 4th, 2024, the Department of Economics at Sir Syed College, successfully conducted an awareness session titled “Breathe Green.” The session was organized for the Economics of Tourism and Development students under the FYUGP (Minor) program, with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of sustainable tourism and development from both environmental and economic perspectives. Dr. Abdussalam A.K. served as the resource person for the event. Mr.Hamsa C.K, Head of the Department of Economics, Mr. Muneer, the college gardener, and Mr. Suhail Muhammed Khalid, faculty member of the Department of Economics, were also present at the program. The students contributed to the event by organizing cultural programs, adding a lively and engaging aspect to the session.
