RS & GIS
Utilizes advanced technologies such as remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) tools to monitor and analyze changes in land cover, deforestation, and forest health. This technology aids in effective forest management and planning.
Wood identification plays a crucial role in monitoring and combating illegal logging. By identifying the species of wood in trade, authorities can enforce regulations and ensure that only legally harvested timber enters the market.
BOURDILLON’S FOREST INFORMATION CENTRE
The department established a forest information centre in honor of T F Bourdillon (First Forest Conservator of Travancore).
TEACHING- LEARNING ENABLED FACILITIES
Green edition is the wall magazine maintained by the students of the department.
The infotainment corner is a facility provided in response to the proposal given by the department students.
The department of forestry maintains a department library for the academic enhancement of students. The library has a good collection of reference books, field guides, journals, proceedings, research reports etc.
