Sacred grove conservation

From 2013- August onwards Bhoomithrasena club of Sir Syed College is actively participating in the sacred grove conservation of Kannur district. The work is still continuing and we completely cleaned the mangrove rich sacred grove of Thazhekavu, Kannur. We also constructed bio fence around Irivery Kavu and also documented flora of Kayyath Nagam in Taliparamba. Sacred grove conservation project is organized with the support of OISCA international and State Medicinal Plants Board. Members participated in planting medicinal plants and also in awareness programmes. Planting done at Irivery and Kayyath Nagam. Waste materials removed from Thazhekavu island and net fence constructed around the island. All these activities are conducting with the active participation of local people.
