College Rules 


DISCIPLINE AND RULES OF CONDUCT
  1. Students are expected to be modestly and suitably dressed while attending the College. Women students should observe strict modesty in dress.
  2. Students shall always behave with dignity and courtesy.
  3. When a teacher enters the class room the students shall rise up and remain standing until the teacher takes his/ her seat or asks them to be seated.
  4. As discipline is highly essential to the smooth working of the College, each and every student shall maintain it at any cost.
  5. Loitering in the corridors, causing disturbance in the class rooms and such other undesirable activities which disturb the calm atmosphere of the College are strictly forbidden.
  6. Absolute obedience is expected from every student. If anyone tries to defy the authority of the Principal or any teacher he or she will be punished.
  7. If any student violates the rules and regulations indicated above, the Principal has absolute authority to expel him or her from the College.
  8. Students are forbidden from participating in any meeting or agitation directed against the authorities of the Government or the College.
  9. No meeting, processions or entertainments shall be organized or any fund collected from the college or hostels without the written permission of the Principal.
  10. No student shall join or work for any organisation outside the College without permission of the Principal. If any student is found guilty of indiscipline, such as organising demonstration or strikes, he or she will be immediately sent away from the College.
  11. No student shall disfigure the walls, windows or furniture by writing on them. If anyone damages or destroys the College property, he or she will have to pay the cost of repair.
  12. Men students, who have no class to attend at any particular hour, are expected to be in the library and women students in the ladies retreat/ library.
  13. Women students should not remain in class rooms when there is no class.
  14. Every student is expected to take part in one or more of the games for which facilities are provided by the College.
  15. Students are strictly forbidden from making complaints in a body or from addressing any authority collectively.
  16. The college magazine of the last academic year shall be distributed before the notification for the College Union Election. In case it is not published before the date of election notification, it can be released only after the College elections.
  17. Smoking, use of alcohol or intoxicating drinks and consumptions of drugs by students is strictly prohibited.
  18. The student should move silently when proceeding from one class room to another and other times, so as not to disturb classes or others at work.
  19. Every student should greet teachers respectfully on the occasion of his / her first meeting them for the day.
  20. No student shall leave the class room or laboratory without the permission of the teacher-in-charge.
  21. The behaviour of students both within and outside theCollege premises should be decent.
  22. To bring photo or video cameras inside the College campus is strictly prohibited.
  23. The following are not allowed inside the College campus. Those who violate these rules shall be punished severely.
    1. To publish any materials such as journals, magazine, booklets, notices etc. (except during the college union Election eve for canvassing vote) without the prior written permission of the Principal.
    2. To conduct meeting by the students organisation inside the College campus without the prior written permission of the Principal.
    3. To bring any guests, student organisation leaders or politicians form outside for student organisational activities inside the College campus.
    4. To display any publicity materials such as banners wall posters, notices etc. within the College campus.
    5. Taking unauthorised collections from the students or staff.
    6. Entering other classrooms, when there is class or not.
  24. Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited inside the campus.
  25. The college campus is plastic free. Students should keep the campus neat and clean.
  26. Students should exhibit the ID card provided from the college by wearing it around their neck
IDENTITY CARD
  1. All students of the College shall keep with them the recent Identity Cards with their passport size photograph attested by the Principal.
  2. All payments, issue of certificates, scholarships etc. will be made only on the production of the Identity Card.
  3. The students shall produce their Identity Cards as and when the college staff demand it.
  4. Identity Card is valid for one year only.
  5. The student should surrender the Identity Card when he/ she leaves the institution.
ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE
  1. Every student shall put in a minimum attendance of 75% of term days.
  2. Students are not permitted to absent themselves from classes without leave. Leave applications should be submitted to the Principal in advance through the class Tutor/ head of the Department.
  3. Absence from a class for one period of either of the two sessions will be considered as absence for half a day.
  4. Applications for leave on medical grounds shall be supported by a medical certificate.
  5. A student absenting from the College with or without leave for more than five consecutive working days shall report to the Principal before attending any class.
  6. If a student absents himself/herself from the College for more than 15 consecutive working days without satisfactory explanation, his/her name will be removed from the rolls.
  7. Only those students who are not having academic areas will be eligible for readmission.
  8. Promotion to the senior class and presenting them for University Examination shall be subject to the following conditions.
    1. The student should have earned at least three fourth of the attendance prescribed by the College for the course during the year.
    2. He/she should have completed the course to the satisfaction of the College authorities and his/her progress, conduct and character should have been satisfactory.
  9. Students seeking exemption from the rules related to minimum attendance shall apply for exemption to the University. The reason for each day's absence is to be explained. In the case of absence on account of illness, a medical certificate has also to be furnished.
No application for exemption will be recommended by the Principal unless he is satisfied that the short age of attendance was beyond the student's control. In no case will exemption be granted to the same student for more than once in a course.
